Poole
The best beaches in England, a beautiful natural harbour with a busy commercial port, a pleasure boat mecca for the rich and famous, and ornamental gardens like Compton Acres makes Poole a place you must certainly visit.
Poole´s Spectacular Harbour and Beaches
Although you can do the same route by car, the hardy walkers amongst you will enjoy setting out early to walk the westerly beach promenade to the sandy peninsula of Sandbanks. Cross the entrance to Poole Harbour via the chain ferry, and then enjoy a stroll along Studland to Old Harry´s Rocks with a lunch break at the Bankes Inn. It´s then a short walk over some cliff-side paths before you drop down into the Purbeck seaside town of Swanage. You can then catch the Swanage Bus No.50, which will take you all the way back to Bournemouth and home.
Poole Quay
Poole has a spectacular natural harbour and it is well worth including a vist to the busy Poole Quay to catch a tour boat to see the sights. At the height of the summer season try and catch the ever popular evening firework cruises. Book early to avoid disappointment.
Poole is home to Sunseeker, and it is worth a stroll along the Quay to look at the super yachts moored up alongside. A walk amongst the back streets will hint at the old harbour town heritage that still exists.
