The New Forest National Park
Switch off your Sat-Nav, buy a detailed road map and set-off for a day trip to really enjoy the extraordinary beauty and contrasting scenery of the New Forest. We suggest a popular, full day´s excursion plan below for you to enjoy.
The Perfect Excursion
Drive across to Christchurch and then head for Ringwood along the B3347. Just north of Ringwood, turn right from the A338 into Ivy Lane. From Rockwood work your way north east to Furzehill aiming to join the B3078 to continue a clockwise journey to Linwood. Work your way south again, using the A31 underpass to enjoy the Bolderwood Arboretum Ornamental Drive.
Cross the A35 along the Rhinefield Ornamental Drive and head for Brockenhurst. Push onto Beaulieu and then drop down to Lepe Country Park to enjoy a spectacular view of the Solent. It is worth driving the extra distance to Calshot Spit. Head for Lymington, using the coastal roads back home to Bournemouth.
Take Your Time
The trip will take you the entire day, but many people don´t complete it because they choose to stop off and spend more time at one of the many places along the route. Just watch out for the free-roaming horses, donkeys, and cattle who are completely indifferent to the traffic chaos they create by choosing the road to stop and take a nap.
Aim to hit Lymington around supper time. It is the south´s premier yachting haven, so there are plenty of places to eat and recovery from your day´s tour.
The Boardwalk Apartments
The Boardwalk Apartments form an ideal base to venture out each day to explore the surrounding area.
